Summary:

Early Childhood Options, located in Summit County, CO, seeks a Head Start Program Director. The Head Start Program Director will provide leadership and management of all aspects of the Early Head Start and Head Start Programs in Summit County. Head Start and Early Head Start implements an integrated management and service delivery model to provide comprehensive child development, health services and family support for families with young children ages prenatal to five years.


The Head Start Program Director will provide oversight and management at the administrative and staff levels to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards. The Director will be responsible for communicating and interacting with the governing body, the Summit County Board of County Commissioners. The Director will also be responsible for communicating with the local advisory council and, in partnership with the Family Engagement Specialists, the Policy Council. The Director will maintain a positive working relationship with all of the program partners, staff and the community in general in order to facilitate the success of an integrated community services approach.


This position requires a thorough knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, local child care licensing regulations, as well as general knowledge of financial and budgetary management and program administration, principles of grant administration and well-developed public relations skills. This position requires the ability to successfully manage a multi-faceted program and interpret federal and state laws pertaining to the program. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, including the ability to provide leadership and manage dynamic team interactions.


Educational requirements include a minimum of a Bachelors degree in early childhood education, education administration or a related field with supervisory experience. This position requires demonstrated skills in educational program management, including program planning, operations, evaluation and the use of management information systems. Education and/or experience with budgeting and personnel management are helpful.


This is a full-time salaried position, housed at Early Childhood Options in Dillon. Salary range $58K-$72K, dependent on education, experience and other qualifications.
