In 2005 the voters of Summit County passed Ammendment 1A--supporting early childhood efforts. Programs funded by the dollars raised by 1A are called RightStart. RightStart programs include:
- Recruitment & Retention--Salary Supplement Program
- Parent Education--Families United & Community Infant/Child Program
- Tuition Assistance for Child Care--CCCAP
- Capacity Building--Capital Improvement Grants

RightStart Salary Supplement Program for Early Childhood Teachers
Early Childhood Teachers who work a minimum of 20 hours per week in a licensed child care program are eligible to apply to the RightStart Salary Supplement Program. Participant's salary may not exceed $18 per hour. You may obtain an application by contacting Early Childhood Options at 970-513-1170 x305 or emailing elowe@earlychildhoodoptions.org. Right Start Policies & Application
Teachers are encouraged to apply for their Colorado Early Childhood Credential. Dollars awarded to early childhood teachers are linked to the Credential System To obtain an application for a Colorado Early Childhood Credential please visit the Office of Professional Development at Smart Start Colorado at www.SmartStartColorado.org. Parent Education
Home Visitation--Families United
With the help of RightStart dollars, the Family & Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC) administers a program called Families United. Families United is a home visitation program available to all Summit County families with children 0-5 years old (spaces are based on current availability). Families United parent educators utilize the Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum. Parent educators visit families in their homes monthly to help parents understand brain development and learn activities benificial to their child at the current developmental stage. Tuition Assistance for Child Care
Tuition Assistance--CCCAP
RightStart dollars have been used to improve the Summit County Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP). The CCCAP program is administered by Summit County Government. For more information about CCCAP click here or call Jocelyn Haddock at 970-668-2946.

2007 RightStart Child Care Capacity Building Grants are now available. These applications are due on April 30, 2007.
