Sheila Groneman, Head Start Director

Sheila has been the director of the Head Start program since it’s inception in 2002. Previously she was the early childhood coordinator for the Youth and Family Department with Summit County Government for over eleven years overseeing home visitation and child abuse prevention programs. Sheila’s years of experience in early childhood have included working as a public and private school classroom teacher, child care center director, resource & referral director, parent educator, and a community college adjunct instructor. Sheila comes from Massachusetts and has lived in Summit County for the last 27 years.

Elizabeth Lowe, Outreach Specialist & Professional Development Coordinator

Elizabeth Edgar Lowe hails from the great state of Illinois.  She received her Bachelors in Creative Writing from Miami University (Ohio) and her Masters in Education from University of Illinois.  Elizabeth and her family--husband Jon, son Jake & daughter Cecilia--have lived in Summit County over seven years.

Jason Read, Head Start Family Engagment Specialist

Jason Read has been the Family Engagement Specialist for Summit County Heads Start since October, 2005.  He has been an adjunct English language instructor at Colorado Mountain College since 2001.  He has lived in Summit County for over ten years, during which time he has served as a community advocate, grant coordinator, youth mentor and bilingual educator.

Johanna McDonald, Early Childhood Options Program Manager

Johanna was born and raised in Boulder City, Nevada.  During and after college she had traveled the world doing service work from helping children recover from a life of prostitution in Thailand to helping with hurricane Katrina relief in the gulf.  She and her fiance, Matt, just recently moved to Summit County (the summer of 07) to settle down and she is eager to help serve her new community!

Emily Schwier, Head Start Program Assistant

Emily has worked for Summit County Head Start for over two years.  She is originally from Columbus, Ohio and has a business degree from The Ohio State University.  Emily has been in the county for ten years.  Before coming to Colorado, Emily lived and worked in New York City for five years where she married her husband Steve.  They have a  five year old son, Nolan, who attends Dillon Valley Elementary.
